Linear analysis of coupled lattices

چکیده

The parametrization of linear one-dimensional optical systems using the so-called Twiss parameters, b, a, and f, has been well established for some time [1]. The extension to two dimensions involves identifying the normal modes by transforming the full turn 4 3 4 transfer matrix to block diagonal form [2]. The system is then parametrized using the six Twiss parameters for both normal modes and four additional parameters specifying the orientation of the normal modes with respect to the laboratory x, y axes. For “weak” coupling where the normal modes correspond quite closely to uncoupled horizontal and vertical motion, this analysis is conceptually simple since, to first order in the coupling, the Twiss parameters are unaffected by the coupling. However, when the coupling is strong, the situation is more complicated since the Twiss parameters now no longer have their standard meanings. For example, p b is now no longer proportional to the beam size. Furthermore, as discussed below, the identification of which mode is which at different places in the lattice can be obscured by the formalism. Since strong coupling has been put forward as a means to create round beams (for example, Talman [3] has proposed a “Möbius” twist accelerator), these subtleties need to be addressed, and this is the purpose of this paper.

Spectral properties and synchronization in coupled map lattices.

Spectral properties of coupled map lattices are described. Conditions for the stability of spatially homogeneous chaotic solutions are derived using linear stability analysis. Global stability analysis results are also presented. The analytical results are supplemented with numerical examples. The quadratic map is used for the site dynamics with different coupling schemes such as global couplin...

The effect of material nonlinearity on the band gap for TE and TM modes in square and triangular lattices

In this article, by using the method of finite difference time domain (FDTD) and PML boundary conditions, we have studied the photonic band gaps for TE and TM modes in square and triangular lattices consisting of air holes in dielectric medium and compared the results. In addition, the effect of nonlinearity of the photonic crystal background on the photonic band gaps and comparison with the re...

Asymptotic Liapunov Exponents Spectrum For An Extended Chaotic Coupled Map Lattice

The scaling hypothesis for the coupled chaotic map lattices (CML) is formulated. Scaling properties of the CML in the regime of extensive chaos observed numerically before is justified analytically. The asymptotic Liapunov exponents spectrum for coupled piece-wise linear chaotic maps is found.

Solution and stability analysis of coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations

We consider a new type of integrable coupled nonlinear Schrodinger (CNLS)equations proposed by our self [submitted to Phys. Plasmas (2011)]. The explicitform of soliton solutions are derived using the Hirota's bilinear method. We show that the parameters in the CNLS equations only determine the regionsfor the existence of bright and dark soliton solutions. Finally, throughthe linear stability an...

Analytical Approach for Piecewise Linear Coupled Map Lattices

A simple construction is presented, which generalises piecewise linear one–dimensional Markov maps to an arbitrary number of dimensions. The corresponding coupled map lattice, known as a simplicial mapping in the mathematical literature, allows for an analytical investigation. Especially the spin Hamiltonian, which is generated by the symbolic dynamics is accessible. As an example a formal rela...
